DOMINICA
EMPLOYMENT OF CHILDREN (PROHIBITION) ACT
AN ACT to prohibit the employment of children in any occupation with certain exceptions.
Commencement: 29th December 1939
Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the Employment of Children (Prohibition) Act.
Interpretation. 2. In this Act -
"child" means a person who in the opinion of the Court, in a prosecution for an offence against this Act, is under the age of twelve years;
"guardian" includes any person who is liable to maintain or has the actual custody of the child.
Prohibition of employment of a child. 3. No person shall take into his employment or employ in any occupation whatsoever any child; but a child may be employed in the domestic work or agricultural work of a light nature at home by the parents or guardian of the child.
4. Any person who contravenes this Act is liable on summary conviction to a fine of five hundred dollars.
