Intended beneficiaries: Children and the tripartite partners in The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
Start/ End Dates: April 2001 - March 2008
Objectives: To contribute to the prevention and elimination of the worst forms of child labour in the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean by developing the capacity to promote and implement policies and programmes that give effect to ILO Convention No. 182 on the Worst Forms of Child Labour.
Outputs:
- Rapid assessment of the situation with respect to child labour in project countries.
- National review and publication of child labour laws in The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
- Publication of a comparative review of child labour laws in project countries.
- Awareness-raising materials.
- National consultations on tackling child labour through education in Guyana and Jamaica.
- Subregional workshop on combating child labour in indigenous communities in Belize, Guyana and Suriname.

- Increased awareness of the existence of child labour.
- Children prevented and withdrawn from chid labour.
- Jamaica has appointed a Focal Point for child labour in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

Harmonization of Labour Legislation in the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean (Website) Intended Beneficiaries: Government and employers’ and workers’ organizations Start/ End Dates: November 2006 – December 2008 Objectives: To contribute to the effective application of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work at the national level and to ensure that they are taken into consideration in the regional integration process of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Single Market and Economy (CSME). Outputs: Reviews and analysis of compliance of the national labour legislation with CARICOM Model Labour Laws. Database of Labour Legislation of ILO member States in the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean ( CARIBLEX)
Impact to date:
National labour legislation, in the areas of the four CARICOM Model Labour Laws, have been reviewed and gaps identified. Member States and the social partners trained on, a) the provisions of their national legislation in the four areas where CARICOM Model Labour Legislation exists, b) the provisions of other Caribbean national labour legislation and c) the steps needed to be taken at the national level to bring their national labour legislation in line with international labour standards and the intent of the four CARICOM Model Labour Legislation. Objectives: To reduce HIV/AIDS risk behaviours among workers; and to reduce employment-related discrimination against persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Action at the level of the enterprise is the principal target of the Project.
Outputs: National HIV/AIDS Workplace Policy, Behaviour Change Communication materials and messages, training, collection of data (workers' survey):

Objectives: To develop and strengthen national labour market information systems that would generate reliable, timely and internationally-comparable labour statistics for use by government policy-makers, employers and trade unionists.
Outputs: A series of Working Papers, a Caribbean Labour Market Information Library on CD-ROM, and the Caribbean Occupational Information Exchange Facility, also on CD-ROM.
Impact to date:
Labour Market Information (LMI) Plans established for The Bahamas, Barbados, Netherlands Antilles, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
Labour Force Survey (LFS) implemented (Saint Kitts and Nevis) and enhanced (Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, the Netherlands Antilles).
Occupational Wage Surveys (OWS) implemented (Barbados, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles, Trinidad and Tobago) and enhanced (Saint Lucia and The Bahamas).
Evaluation undertaken to determine the potential of National Insurance Schemes (NIS) as a source of LMI (The Bahamas, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Netherlands Antilles).
Country-specific Labour Market Information Libraries (LMIL) established in Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles, Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago.

- A Publication documenting good practices in management-labour cooperation at the national, sectoral and enterprise levels - "Productivity improvement through strengthening management-labour cooperation – the Caribbean experience", by I. Christopher Imoisili and Andre-Vincent Henry (2004).
Impact to date:
- A heightened awareness of and commitment to management-labour cooperation, and building trust through social dialogue as a means for contributing to increased productivity and competitiveness.
- A trained cadre of tripartite constituents with an interest in using the skills and knowledge acquired.

Intended Beneficiaries: Social Insurance Bank of Aruba
Objectives: To project the financial situation of the General Old Age Pension Scheme (AOV) and the General Widows and Orphans Insurance (AWW) scheme, both administered by the Soziale Verzekeringsbank (SVb) of Aruba (Social Insurance Bank of Aruba).
Output: Report and recommendation made to Government.
Impact to date: The study addressed the financial implications of the different reform proposals, which allowed the Government of Aruba to take decisions as to the general direction of their pension reform process.

Seventh Actuarial Review of the National Insurance System of Trinidad and Tobago as of 30 June 2005
Intended Beneficiaries: National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago
Start/ End Dates: June 2006 – June 2007
Objectives: To undertake the Seventh Actuarial Review of the National Insurance System of Trinidad and Tobago in accordance with Section 70 of the Trinidad and Tobago National Insurance Act No. 35 of 1971.
Outputs: Report with recommendations submitted to Government.
Impact to date: Recommendations formulated for the effective financial operation of the National Insurance Scheme of Trinidad and Tobago.
