on adaptation of SIYB/SIYC Materials for Caribbean Cooperatives.

Purpose:

To bring to together leading cooperative
experts and practitioners from the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU),
the Caribbean Association of Registrars of Cooperatives (CASROC) and the
Cipriani College of Labour and Cooperative Studies (CCLCS) to examine the ILO’s
Start and Improve Your Cooperatives (SIYC) training modules and make
recommendations on how to adapt them for youth entrepreneurship development in
the Caribbean.

Title: ILO Subregional Meeting
on Seeking Trade Union Solutions to the Crisis in Sugar and Banana Industries in
the Caribbean.
Place and Dates:
4-6 April 2005, Barbados.
Purpose:

To examine the conclusions of 2003 ILO/ACTRAV
Symposium on Decent Work in Agriculture;
·
To discuss the future of Caribbean
agriculture and the impact on the workforce, in particular in the sugar and
banana industries;
·
To strengthen the trade unions’ capacity
to create solutions, and alternative approaches to the situation of workers in
the two countries.

Title: Employers’
Participation in Small and Medium Enterprise Development and the Informal
Economy.
Place and Dates:
23 to 24 May 2005, Ochos Rios, Jamaica.
Purpose:

To exchange the findings of surveys
conducted in each country for charactering the Informal Economy and for
promoting SME development as a viable sector for employment creation and
sustenance;

To ascertain the national economic and
social policy environment for promoting private sector development and the
training strategies that respond to the specific needs of the SME sector;
·
To arrive at conclusions on the type of
representation and services to provide to businesses operating within the
informal economy.

Training Workshop for Government Labour Inspectors.
