Image96TH SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONFERENCE -- HEAD OF STATE, GOVERNMENT AND LEADERS FROM WORLD OF WORK TO ADDRESS WIDE RANGE OF LABOUR ISSUES”.
GENEVA (ILO News) - More than 3,000 government, worker and employer leaders are to meet here from 30 May to 15 June for the annual Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to discuss issues ranging from decent work and development to child labour in agriculture, work in the fishing sector, equality at work, forced labour and the promotion of sustainable enterprises. (29 May 2007)

CARIBBEAN LABOUR MINISTERS MEET TO ADVANCE DECENT WORK AGENDA.
PORT OF SPAIN (ILO News) - Labour Ministers and other high-level labour officials from the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean will convene at the Trinidad Hilton and Conference Centre, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on 15-16 May 2007 for the Sixth Meeting of Caribbean Labour Ministers. Hosted jointly by the United Nation's International Labour Organization, Subregional Office for the Caribbean and the Ministry of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development, Trinidad and Tobago, the meeting will focus on the role of Ministries of Labour in realizing the Decent Work Agenda for the Caribbean. BRUNEI BECOMES 180TH ILO MEMBER STATE.
GENEVA (ILO News) - Brunei Darussalam has become the 180th Member State of the International Labour Organization (ILO) following receipt in Geneva of a letter from Mr. Pehin Dato Adanan Yusof, Minister of Home Affairs, stating on behalf of the Government that Brunei formally accepts the obligations of the ILO Constitution. ILO TRAINING WORKSHOP ON INTERNATIONAL LABOUR STANDARDS FOR LABOUR OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYERS' AND WORKERS' ORGANIZATIONS
PORT OF SPAIN (ILO News) - The training workshop is aimed at building the capacity officials with responsibility for labour matters, in particular, those involved in the preparation of reports on the application of international labour standards. Under the constitution of the ILO, member States that have ratified ILO Conventions are required to submit regular reports to the ILO on the measures being undertaken to implement them.  The workshop is intended to provide in-depth skills training on the preparation of such reports. ILO, UNDP JOIN FORCES TO PROMOTE GROWTH FOR DECENT JOBS
GENEVA (ILO News) - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have agreed to strengthen their collaboration and partnership in a major new effort to bolster UN actions designed to reduce poverty and create more decent work. ILO Director-General Juan Somavia and UNDP Administrator Kemal Derviş signed the joint agreement here today in a public ceremony. It is designed to promote inclusive economic growth with social development to benefit the bottom 20 to 40 per cent of the population, and bolster UN efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 Mujer.
