Election of the next ILO Director-General
25 May 2012
GENEVA (ILO News) – On Monday 28 May 2012, the Governing Body will elect the next Director-General of the International Labour Office (ILO) at its 314th Session.
The secret ballot will be conducted in a private sitting of the Governing Body which will open at 10.00 a.m. Only regular and deputy members of the Governing Body will be admitted to the Governing Body room. Access to R3 South (meeting rooms, delegates' bar and area around the Governing Body room) will also be restricted all day on 28 May until the end of the final ballot.
The list of candidates for each round of ballot may be consulted at any time during the day on the ILO web page on the election of the Director-General.
At the end of the electoral process, the private sitting will be adjourned and, after a break of about 30 minutes, the Governing Body will meet in a public sitting to announce the appointment of the new Director-General. The Director-General-elect will be invited to take the floor. The public sitting will be open to everyone – including media representatives – and will be webcast on the ILO website.
